I began this blog to keep track of my recipes and help me stay motivated on the Dukan diet. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Dukan diet, it is basically a low-fat, low-carb diet. A list of allowed foods for the Dukan diet is provided below for your convenience along with some exercise tips at the bottom. The nice PR people at Dukan shared them with me. The Dukan diet worked for me mostly because I know no moderation. Considering the diet allowed me to eat as much as I wanted from the allowed foods list, it suited my needs perfectly.

My perspective on the Dukan diet is that it is a good starting point to a healthier lifestyle. Probably the most important aspect of the diet is that it trains you to pick low-fat food alternatives: fat-free cream cheese, skim milk, lean meats, etc. It also forces you to cook more using natural ingredients and eat less highly-processed foods. These are great shifts from many of our fast food-consuming lifestyles. Eventually, although you always have the option to eat as much as you want, you simply won’t feel the need to overindulge. You’ll be satisfied after eating a sensible portion and be happy about what you ate.

I went through the first two phases of the Dukan diet, the attack phase and the cruise phase. It took me a few months and a few million recipes to go from about 132 pounds to 117 pounds. At 5’1, that’s about 11% of my weight that I lost which is pretty significant. I stopped the Dukan diet because I had reached my target weight and felt that I was well-equipped to manage my own weight from there forward. Since then, I’ve lost another 7 pounds just from eating right and exercising. I eat lots of greek yogurt, snack on whole-grain crackers, and incorporate protein veggie days multiple times throughout the week. I’m a lot better at that whole “moderation” thing now (maybe not so much on cheat days).

Overall, the Dukan diet still plays a pretty significant role in my life. I still reference my blog often for recipes and continue to test new recipes that I will share on the blog. Please keep in mind that these recipes are created from my personal experiences and may not 100% follow the “Dukan rules.” However, I was able to lose and/or maintain my weight using these recipes. I hope these recipes will be helpful to you as well as you tackle your new healthy eating regiment! I always enjoy reading your comments so please continue to post them.

  1. 3 weeks into Dukan diet and so far so good, off on a cruise for two weeks and worried about how to eat oatbran,the rest is easy! Will try your cookies today, thanks so much they will make life easy!
